Introducing artist Tran Ngoc Anh

Tran Ngoc Anh is not a name that stands out only because of her technique, but also because she is an artist who puts her emotions into the materials she chooses. Over many years of practice, Anh has gradually built for herself a style that is both soft and strong – a visual language that bears a deeply personal mark.

After experimenting with oil paintings, acrylic, silk, fabric, paper…, when she stepped into mixed materials, Anh realized that each material is not just a “tool” but a “partner” in creation. She does not let the material serve her; instead, she listens to the material – letting it lead the way, letting it contribute to telling the story.

During the preparation phase of Tu Tai Chi Toa, Anh spent more time living quietly: going into nature, contemplating poetry, recording emotions, experimenting with light and space. The work is born not only from skill, but from an inner state that is “free” enough to allow the feeling to rise.

Materials used in the exhibition Tu Tai Chi Hoa

In the art world of Tran Ngoc Anh, materials are not only a means of creating shapes but also the “soul” of the work. Each color block, each scratch, each coating is like a small musical note contributing to the harmony of tranquility and inner freedom.

  • Mixed materials: Acrylic, paper, small fabric, and many other materials are skillfully combined, creating a thick and vivid surface. Viewers not only see the colors, but also feel the weight – lightness, roughness – smoothness, as if touching the layers of overlapping memories.
  • Transparent – translucent, hidden – visible effects: Transparent layers of color alternating with the opaque coating create a visual space that is both clear and magical. That is where images appear and disappear, like fragile thoughts in the stream of consciousness – impossible to hold, but always leaving an echo.
  • The language of the surface: Scratches, strong and light brush strokes, overlapping layers of color… all are evidence of the dialogue between the artist and the material. When the light is tilted, the surface resonates like a whisper of color – a wordless song between light and darkness.
  • The spirit of meditation in each color streak: There are areas of the painting that seem to “fade”, “float”, leaving a feeling of incompleteness. But it is this imperfection that opens up depth: it is a space for the mind to drift, without attachment, without constraint – a true “freedom”.

With the use of materials that is both delicate and expressive, Tran Ngoc Anh has turned each painting into a visual silence. There, viewers not only enjoy with their eyes, but also listen with their hearts, so that the work continues to live in them even after leaving the exhibition space.

Space and display at the exhibition

The exhibition “Tu Tai Chi Toa” is not simply a place to hang paintings, but is designed as an experiential journey, where every step of the viewer becomes a part of the work. The space here is not forced, but inviting, not closed, but open to lead emotions from curiosity to contemplation, from movement to stillness.

  • The layout opens up a free journey: The works are not arranged in a rigid straight line, but are arranged as emotional “stops”. Viewers can choose any starting point, and then draw their own route of enjoyment.
  • Light as a guiding language: The lighting system is delicately arranged, creating interwoven light and dark strips. Light not only highlights the paintings, but also evokes a sense of breathing, as if leading the audience’s steps from one inner world to another.
  • Necessary silence: Between the works on display, there are still white walls, large spaces for viewers to stop, breathe slowly, and let the echoes of the previous painting resonate in their minds before touching the next one.
  • Private contemplative space: A few small corners in the exhibition have chairs – like real “seating” points. There, the audience can temporarily stop walking, relax in silence, and let their eyes and mind “sit” with the work.
  • Seamless flow: The way of displaying creates the feeling that the works follow each other in a continuous flow. There is no clear boundary between the beginning and the end, because the contemplative journey that the exhibition brings is like a circle – where any point can be the beginning, or the stopping point.

“Tu Tai Chi Toa” is not simply a painting exhibition, it is a space for viewers to find the silence within themselves. In each stroke, each layer of paint, Tran Ngoc Anh has conveyed the desire: when the soul is “at ease”, then one can clearly hear the “voice” of oneself and the world. The exhibition is a gentle reminder: in the hustle and bustle of life, take a moment to calm down, to be still. Because from stillness will grow true emotions and inner light.
